Puchong daycare fees: how to compare two quotes fairly

One daycare quote says “meals included”. Another lists lunch and dinner separately. Which costs less? If your child goes home before dinner every day, the answer may be different from that for a family collecting later. Start with the week you actually need, then ask both centres to price that same week.

For example: “My Standard 1 child needs care after the morning school session, Monday to Friday. We need school pickup every day, lunch every day and later collection on Wednesdays.” This is more useful than asking only “What are your monthly daycare fees?” It also gives the centre a chance to flag a day it can’t cover.

Give each quote the same set of rows

Copy this table into your notes. Write “included”, the amount quoted in RM, or “not offered”. A blank is easy to mistake for free.

What to compareCentre A (RM)Centre B (RM)
Care for our days and collection times________
School pickup for our route and session________
Meals our child will eat________
Homework support or lessons we want________
Registration, deposit and other upfront payments________
Holiday care or occasional late collection________

At Red Dragonfly, the Puchong daycare service page describes meals and school transfers. Ask which apply to your session and quote. An item appearing on a service page is a reason to ask about it; it doesn’t tell you whether it’s in your monthly fee.

Write down two totals, not one

What do we pay to start? Add the first month’s payment and any one-off amounts due before your child begins. Keep a refundable deposit on its own line. It still leaves your account, but you’ll want to record when and under what conditions it comes back.

What do we pay in an ordinary school month? Add the recurring care fee and only the extras your family uses. If transport is billed by another provider, include that payment once. If lunch is included, don’t add it again. Keep the cost of a holiday week beside this total so an unusual month doesn’t distort the comparison.

What to ask before you choose

If one quote is lower, look first at the day that’s hardest to cover. Can you still collect at the time you need on Wednesday? Would skipping an optional lesson leave a gap in supervision? A cheaper option that requires a second school run may be a poor fit even when the arithmetic is right.

To request a current quote from Red Dragonfly, send your child’s school, year, session, days of care and usual collection time. Finish with: “Could you separate what’s due before the first day from the usual monthly payment, and mark which extras are optional?” You’ll have figures you can compare and something useful to refer back to after the visit.
